Will this musical ever open??

The opening of the musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has delayed its opening by two weeks as the New York State Department continues to investigate the safety of the show's flying stunts that resulted in one of the actors breaking both his wrists two weeks ago.

The production was originally set to begin its previews on November 14 and then officially open December 21, however, with the latest setback, the show is now scheduled to preview on November 28 and open on January 11, 2011.

Part of the reason why the musical was delayed was because the production wasn't prepared to demonstrate all of their complicated stunts to safety officials earlier this week, making their inspection incomplete.

The producer of the show, Michael Cohl explained the delays, saying, "Shows like ours, that embrace the challenge of opening on Broadway without an out-of-town tryout, often need to adjust their schedules along the way."

They need to do whatever they can to make sure this show is safe and if delaying the show by a couple of weeks so that another incident doesn't happen, then we say, good move!!

Let's just hope everything goes as planned and the musical will be considered safe enough to open by 2011!
